Pottery workshops that focus on specific techniques and set projects. And if you are keen to learn more, the Introduction to Ceramics Course will give you the opportunity to learn a broad range of pottery techniques and enable you to make your own designs. Your pottery will be fired and glazed for collection around 6 weeks later (or delivery for P&P costs). Suitable for all skill levels. Class sizes are small and friendly, and Imogen will be on hand to offer support throughout.

Introduction to Ceramics Course – £144

Duration 3 hours, Tuesdays from 10am to 1pm OR 6pm to 9pm

Dates 2020: 7th July to 11th August (6 week)  FULL

This 6 week course offers people the opportunity to explore working with clay. The sessions are suitable for all skill levels, so if you are a beginner or a maker wanting to further develop your practice. Imogen will demonstrate a range of hand building techniques, wheel throwing, surface design and you will learn about different clays and glazing. This will enable you to develop a personal design led project, whether you want to make large sculptural work or tableware.

Introduction to throwing – £60 pp

Duration: 3 hours, 10am to 1pm

This workshop focuses on using the potters wheel. Imogen will first demonstrate how to prepare, centre and shape your clay. Each student will have their own wheel. You will then spend time at the wheel practicing to create your perfect pots! There will be the opportunity to explore creating different forms, also look at how to make spouts and attach handles. Finished wares can then be painted with underglazes and decorating slips.

Porcelain Vessels – £60

Duration: 3 hours, 10am to 1pm

Come and discover the translucent properties of porcelain. You will learn how to create tealight lanterns and will have the opportunity to experiment with paper clay and P2 porcelain. The class will focus on slab technique to create simple vessels. We will also look at ways to apply surface pattern. You will have the option to decorate with coloured underglazes. Your work will then be high fired, and glazed (optional) for collection. This workshop is open to all skill levels. You can expect to make up to three small pieces to be fired.

raku workshop – 

Duration: 10am to 4pm

Dates 2020:  TBA (please email to express interest)

Learn about the exciting process of Raku! Choose from a selection of handmade biscuit fired pots. You will then use a range of prepared glazes to decorate your pot. We will then work together to load and fire the Raku kiln. Watch as your pots are fired, then put into the reduction box. Finally give them a wash to reveal the glaze transformation. This is a thrilling process, suitable for beginners or if you have previous experience and wish to have your own pots fired using this technique. You will be able to take your raku-fired pieces away with you on the day.
