These practical, hands on classes are designed especially for families who are Home Educating to provide engaging, creative learning for children. They will learn to make everything from scratch themselves. Clay is a responsive, tactile material which enables children of any age and ability to learn skills and develop at their own pace. This versatile material can be used to deliver national curriculum subjects and themes. Clay is a natural and non toxic material. Used by cultures around the world for over 20,000 years!
Each workshop begins with a demonstration of how to – your session can focus on a subject or use different techniques e.g; wheel throwing or slab/pinch pots. The group will spend the rest of the time to get squidging and sculpting their ideas to life. At the end, finish creations with a splash of coloured underglaze paints. Pottery will then be glazed and fired, ready for collection around 6 weeks later.
