This 6 week ceramics course offers people the opportunity to explore working with clay. The sessions are suitable for all skill levels, so if you are a beginner or a practicing maker wanting to develop your ceramic knowledge. Each week Imogen will demonstrate from a range of hand building techniques including slab, pinch and coil – wheel throwing plus surface design methods. The final week we will share in a Raku firing!
You will learn;
Introduction to clay types – firing – glazing | Pinch & Kurinuki technique | Throwing on the potters wheel | Slab ware & surface decoration | Raku firing
This will enable you to develop a personal design led project, whether you want to make large sculptural work or tableware. Completed work will be glazed and fired, ready for collection around 6 weeks from the end of the course (or can be posted for p&p costs).
Class sizes are small and friendly with six students. You’ll receive support with ideas and processes throughout. Materials and firing for six pots included, plus complimentary refreshments.

The price (of £155) per person includes tuition, and materials & kiln firing for up to six pieces of pottery. Additional materials can be purchased on the day if required.

– The studio is in a converted barn and our toilet is a cabin across the yard. Unfortunately we don’t currently have baby changing or wheel chair access.
– It’s easiest by car and there is free parking onsite. Alternatively it’s a short taxi ride form either Hinton Admiral or Christchurch train station.
